Spacecubed Signs MoU with Vietnamese Incubator InnoLab Asia to Boost Growth in Western Australia
On Monday, 19th August, Spacecubed took a significant step toward expanding Western Australia’s innovation ecosystem by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InnoLab Asia, a leading Vietnamese incubator. This partnership showcases WA’s capabilities on a global stage, creating new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Through this MoU, Spacecubed will have access to expansion-ready Vietnamese startups from InnoLab Asia’s portfolio to join the Perth Landing Pad program. This program, located within Spacecubed’s Riff coworking space in the heart of Perth CBD, offers a “soft landing” for international and interstate businesses and entrepreneurs, helping them scale their operations and enter the Western Australian market. The program provides market insights, expansion strategies, and valuable connections to networks, corporate partners, and investors.
InnoLab Asia is a Vietnamese leading organisation dedicated to fostering innovation, accelerator programs, global expansion support, and collaboration across Asia and beyond. InnoLab Asia supports over 500 startups from Korea, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia through its accelerator and market expansion programs, and supports over 1000 participants in its internal capability building programs in Vietnam.
Huynh Cong Thang, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of InnoLab Asia, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.
"As a startup mentor, advisor, and innovation catalyst, I firmly believe that education, innovation, and collaboration are the key drivers of economic growth. This MoU marks a significant milestone in strengthening the relationship between Australia, particularly Perth, and Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City. It reflects the dedication of both organisations and ecosystems to fostering collaboration. Perth, a thriving hub of innovation with a population exceeding 2.3 million, and Ho Chi Minh City, a dynamic economic powerhouse with over 9 million residents, both stand to gain immensely from this partnership.”
“This partnership serves as a prime example of how collaboration can enhance efficiency. We eagerly anticipate working with Spacecubed and other partners in the near future to leverage the strengths of both cities and create a brighter, more innovative future for all,” he added.
This MoU aligns closely with the Government of Western Australia’s DiversifyWA strategic framework, which aims to attract investment and drive growth within the state’s innovation ecosystem.
Ophelie Cutier, Acting CEO of Spacecubed, shared her thoughts on this new partnership.
“We aim to create a pipeline of high-growth businesses to Western Australia for our Perth Landing Pad program, and bring in new technology and innovation to the State. Signing an MoU with InnoLab Asia helps us achieve this, and will also provide a pathway for WA businesses to access international markets."
The Perth Landing Pad program is supported by the City of Perth and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. Through this partnership, Perth Landing Pad is able to solidify Perth’s position as a key player in the global innovation network, providing new avenues for economic growth and technological advancement.
By fostering these international connections, Spacecubed continues to strengthen Western Australia’s innovation ecosystem, driving economic growth and creating opportunities for local and international startups alike.
