Have you ever had a lightbulb moment where you came up with a business idea and wondered what it would be like to actually pursue it, but never really knew where to start? Have you ever wondered what actually goes into a startup?

Techstars Startup Weekend is coming back to Perth to give individuals the opportunity to network, learn and take the leap into the world of startups. During the weekend, as you learn how to create a real company from scratch, you’ll meet experienced mentors, investors, cofounders and sponsors who are ready to support your ideas and help you get started.

Taking place over an exciting weekend from 12th-14th August, this event is aimed at anyone wanting to get involved in a team project where you get to build a business over only a short couple of days, Silicon Valley-style. Main components of the weekend include pitching, business model creation, prototyping, designing and market validation all in a friendly and supportive team environment.

The event always leads to great outcomes as we mix the geeks with the entrepreneurs and everyone in between. Here they are, locked in a building for the weekend, fuelled with a bunch of caffeine and free food to see what ideas and prototypes form. The event aims to bring together creatives, technologists, designers and developers to experiment with rapid idea generation. If you’re interested in the event but also not 100% sure you want to participate this time around, don’t worry because observers are always welcome to come down and support the teams.

So how does the weekend unfold?
Firstly, anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea on night one and teams organically form around the top ideas. Throughout the weekend teams are taught Lean startup principles needed in order to develop, test, validate and prototype an innovative business model. To conclude the weekend on Sunday all teams pitch back their progress and ideas to a panel of community judges, where prizes are shared and the winning team is crowned.

You should expect to experience professional and personal challenges over the weekend, including highs and lows, failures and successes. By the end of the event you will be better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups, and will hopefully leave with a bunch of new professional connections and personal friendships too.

Spacecubed has hosted Startup Weekend for a number of years and we have seen countless businesses develop during the process. Whether participants of the event go on to found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new or even just learn a new skill, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the world of startups.

If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur for a weekend, make sure to get in quick and secure your ticket HERE, and get ready for the excitement to come!
