Launching the Plus Eight Syndicate, providing investors with access to WA’s most high-growth startups
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Plus Eight Syndicate, a new investment initiative designed to give sophisticated investors access to some of Western Australia’s most promising early-stage startups. Built on years of founder support and ecosystem development, this syndicate represents the next step in our mission to close the funding gap at the pre-seed and seed stage.
Partnering with Upstart Investments and hosted on the Aussie Angels platform, the Plus Eight Syndicate gives investors access to curated, deal-by-deal investment opportunities in startups coming through the full spectrum of Spacecubed’s founder programs.
While the syndicate will target alumni from our flagship Accelerator, it also extends to high-potential founders emerging from earlier-stage initiatives like the Pre-Accelerator, EmpowerHER, and our broader Plus Eight Academy. This means investors aren’t just backing one program, they’re gaining exposure to a pipeline of diverse, investable startups actively growing across the innovation journey. With a minimum investment starting at $5,000 and structures designed to flow through ESIC tax incentives, this is an accessible and founder-aligned approach to early-stage investment in WA.
We’re now inviting expressions of interest from:
- Sophisticated investors who want high-quality deal flow and the opportunity to invest in emerging WA startups
- Plus Eight alumni raising capital and looking for aligned early-stage investment partners
To celebrate this new initiative, we’ll be hosting a Plus Eight Syndicate Launch Event in August, which will bring together investors, founders, and ecosystem partners for an evening of insights and connection. Attendees will hear directly from Lead Investment Managers, Rob Nathan and Tracie Clark on how the syndicate will operate and how investors can get involved. They will also be able to connect with Plus Eight alumni as they share their growth journeys, and here from a selection of pre-screened startups that will pitch live to the room. The launch is an invite-only event.
Discussing this exciting new initiative, Rob Nathan shared, “whilst we have made progress in attracting Venture Capital to Western Australia we need more Angel Investors to grow and support the startup ecosystem.”
“As a mentor in the Plus Eight accelerator program over the last eight years I have seen tremendous growth in the calibre of startups emerging from the program. The Plus Eight Syndicate provides investors the opportunity to invest alongside us in high-growth startups emerging from all of Spacecubed’s founder programs.” He continued.
Tracie Clark added, “The Plus Eight Syndicate gives investors a unique way to support high-growth, early-stage startups emerging from one of WA’s leading founder programs. By backing these companies early, we’re not only helping founders access the capital they need to scale – we are supporting the entire innovation ecosystem in WA.”
Since 2016, the Plus Eight Accelerator has invested over $3.7 million into early-stage startups, helping them secure more than $24 million in follow-on funding. Today, our alumni portfolio is valued at over $320 million; a clear reflection of the strength, growth, and long-term impact of the businesses we've supported. Through tailored programs and international immersion experiences, we've helped over 50 founders build and scale solutions across health, education, sustainability, and technology and more.
Startups like Plancare, SpaceToCo, Tender Relief, UGroup, and IDEA Academy have each emerged from our programs with strong business models, dedicated teams, and momentum to grow. The Plus Eight Syndicate will build on this track record by giving investors a clear pathway to support these types of companies from an early stage.
With this syndicate, we’re not just creating investment opportunities, we’re helping shape the future of our local innovation economy. By growing the local angel investor network and backing real, scalable ventures, we can deliver long-term impact for founders, investors and the broader ecosystem.
