For those who are unfamiliar with Startup Weekend, it’s a 54-hour whirlwind event where you get to be part of building a business in one weekend, Silicon Valley style. It’s about pitching, business model creation, prototyping, designing and market validation all in a friendly and supportive team environment.
This three-day program brings together aspiring entrepreneurs to experience startup life, and it runs across hundreds of cities around the world with many attendees stating that it’s “the best weekend of their life.”
Running for the 16th time in Perth at Murdoch University’s CBD space from April 30 - May 2, we’re excited to welcome together painters, actors, software engineers, writers, graphic designers, entrepreneurs, photographers, musicians, programmers, or startup specialists. Whether you have an idea, or have no idea. Everyone is welcome!
So if you’re wondering why you should join, here’s four of our top reasons why you can’t miss out.
Connect with other creators
Startup Weekend is a great place to connect with passionate people who are driven to build something new. Whether you have an idea, or you just want to connect with new ideas, there is no better place to meet friends, colleagues, mentors, cofounders, and investors. Who knows, this could be the weekend where the next Canva is born?
Start something great
Knowing you’re not alone can make all the difference. Startup Weekend provides participants many opportunities to engage and connect with like-minded individuals — and truly start something amazing. It’s one of our favourite things about the weekend, and something the team at Spacecubed are passionate about. You’re not alone on your startup journey, simply come along to one of our spaces to see for yourself!
Learn from the best
Learn what it really takes to innovate, disrupt, and start a company from people who’ve been there. Startup Weekend features deep experiential learning guided by an experienced hand. This year, we’re very lucky to be joined by Jasmin Ward who will facilitate the weekend. With her experience building a startup, going through the Plus Eight accelerator program, and working with innovators at Bloom and Skills of the Modern Age, Jasmin is the best person to answer any, and all of your questions.
Improve your knowledge
Sometimes you really need more skills and knowledge to go to the next level. Startup Weekend also goes deep on specific topics or skill sets. Just what you need to progress quickly! From pitching tips, to market validation, if you are looking for the skills to succeed in the startup world, we have them. Don’t believe us? Grab a ticket and come along to find out!
