2019 saw our third cohort of unique businesses come through our accelerator program, where they were provided with ample business opportunities and industry connections, as well as a trip of a lifetime to Silicon Valley. Throughout the six months, the teams grew, pivoted, and planned. There were many lessons learnt, lots of inspiration, and guidance from top industry mentors, as well as the chance to learn and have weekly 1:1 hands-on-time with RAC’s BetterLabs’ very own Derek Gerrard.
Now headed for 2020, applications are open for startups across WA to apply and join us on this journey, where the cohort will have access to many of the same experiences, as well as some new and exciting additions to the program, including a trip to the not-so-secret innovation city, Singapore.
This program is perfect for startups who already have traction in their business, but need direction and guidance to scale and grow, refining their offerings along the way. With partners who are leaders in their field, including Hawaiian, BetterLabs and DFK Gooding Partners, being a part of the cohort will provide you access to investment, powerful industry expertise and connections.
Since inception, Plus Eight has accelerated 18 sustainable businesses in different areas, including medtech, proptech, social enterprises and more, currently valued at over $50million and having received over $7 million in follow-on investments.
Looking back on our very first Plus Eight cohort in 2017, it helped start Humm, who are now in Silicon Valley making truly unique and innovative products, as well as Unocart (called Feedmee App at the time) who are now leading the way in grocery deliveries across Australia. The second Plus Eight cohort in 2018 included SpacetoCo, who dominated SharkTank and attracted the interest of Steve Baxter, as well as Udrew, WA Innovator of the Year founded by Tom Young.
