As a young woman born and raised in Western Sydney with a passion for social change, Yeshal Mansoor is involved with many organisations making a positive impact on young people. These include Y NSW, Headspace, Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, City of Parramatta, and City of Sydney.

Yeshal pushed herself out of her comfort zone by joining these groups and attending networking events, including ones held at the Western Sydney Startup Hub which has been a huge confidence boost for her.

It's been quite the journey because I can confidently say I'm not the same person I was just a year ago,” shared Yeshal. “I've undergone remarkable personal growth, experiencing breakthrough moments that have helped me regain my confidence and reshape my sense of purpose.”

We asked Yeshal if she has any advice for other young women looking to build their confidence and she shared the following.

The era of doubting your worth is over! Seize every opportunity that crosses your path and be bold to ask for what you want. You never know what opportunities may arise.”

Yeshal also acknowledged that she wouldn’t have been awarded Spacecubed’s Impact Scholarship without taking the leap to attend networking events on her own and vocalising her aspirations. “So, believe in yourself, advocate for your ambitions, and watch the doors of opportunity swing wide open,” added Yeshal.

Spacecubed has invited Yeshal to speak at the Western Sydney Startup Hub’s upcoming International Women’s Day event, so we wanted to find out more about her views on how we can all empower young women and she shared the following.

“Reflecting on my own upbringing, I recognise the importance of such support, which, unfortunately, was lacking. We must start by instilling confidence and ambition in girls from a young age, laying the groundwork for a future generation of strong, capable female leaders.”

“Creating an environment where they feel encouraged and safe to pursue their aspirations is essential in unlocking their full potential. Additionally, empowering them through self-advocacy is crucial, as it gives them the power to take control of their lives,” she continued.

We asked Yeshal what her goals are and she opened up about her lifelong pursuit to continue working on her mental health, healing and personal growth journey. “It's essential for each of us to strive for improvement, not only for ourselves but also for our loved ones.”

This year, Yeshal hopes to launch her social enterprise dedicated to youth empowerment, self-advocacy, and domestic violence as her focus remains on community engagement and empowering young people, which she finds immensely fulfilling.

“Believing in your unlimited potential is key. Your mindset shapes your reality. Therefore, cultivating a growth mindset, where challenges are viewed as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles, can propel you forward on your journey to success,” concluded Yeshal.

You can join Yeshal at WSSH on International Women’s Day to hear her speak on the topic of empowering young women to reach their potential over afternoon tea, followed by discussions amongst inspirational women.

This event is free for Spacecubed members or $15 +GST for those from the wider community and you can register here.
