The Perth Landing Pad program, supported by the City of Perth and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, is designed for international and interstate startups looking to expand to Western Australia. It offers invaluable resources, including access to coworking at Spacecubed, mentorship, and essential connections to local businesses.

Dronamics is the world’s first cargo drone airline enabling same day delivery and is a current participant of the program. We recently sat down with General Manager, Kym Anquetil to learn more about the business, where she expressed how the team is “thrilled to be part of the program.”

We design, build and operate long-range cargo drones with a payload of up to 350kg and a range of 2,500 km, resulting in freight that is up to 80% faster, 50% cheaper and with 60% lower co2 emissions than traditional options,” Kym explained. This positions Dronamics as a leader in sustainable logistics, perfectly aligning with the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions.

Dronamics was founded nearly a decade ago by two brothers, one an economist, and the other an aerospace engineer, who identified a major gap in the logistics market. While studying abroad, they noticed that traditional shipping methods were often too slow and costly. This realisation sparked the development of a unique cargo aircraft, specifically designed to deliver faster, more affordable, and versatile shipping solutions.

In 2022, Kym Anquetil joined Dronamics as Director of Flight Operations, bringing extensive aviation expertise and leadership experience, with a background as an accomplished commercial airline pilot. Leading the regulatory approach to operations within Australia, Kym has also focused on establishing safety, quality, and compliance policies.

We asked Kym what the team is currently working on and she shared that they are finalising their test flight program in Europe and gearing up for their first commercial flights, as well as expanding their operations in Australia.

Dronamics believe in investing time to fully understand a local market before launching, which is where the Perth Landing Pad program is helping to link them with local stakeholders. “The local ecosystem is very important to us,” added Kym.

With a mission to enable same day delivery everywhere for everyone, Kym sees incredible potential in Western Australia, particularly in supporting remote communities and industries that face significant logistical challenges.

When it comes to adapting their business for a new market, Kym highlighted the importance of flexibility and understanding that every market has its own needs, challenges and opportunities. “We take time getting to know a market, ensuring we hire talent locally before establishing the best solution for the local communities and businesses,” she added.

Emphasising Dronamics’ commitment to innovation, Kym concluded with the following.

“We have developed a technology that can seamlessly integrate into existing supply chains while redefining how we think about air cargo and establishing direct connections between routes where the need exists.”
