Currently teaching entrepreneurship at UWA, Bloom and Skills of the Modern Age, Jasmin has a wealth of experience in the industry, and joined the Spacecubed community back in 2017 when she was in our Plus Eight accelerator program. Now, in addition to the roles mentioned above, she is working on a new startup in the hyperbaric oxygen space for people with chronic illness.

When asked what inspired her to join the Startup Weekend Perth team she shared. “In early 2016, I was working in a corporate job and after living in Denmark and spending time in Sydney I was wondering what this 'tech' thing was that my friends were talking about and getting involved in.” She continued. “I decided to sign up to Startup Weekend to see if it was something I found interesting. I can honestly say this weekend changed the course of my life.”

4 years later, Jasmin has been involved in three startups (1 originated from this Startup Weekend itself!), three accelerator programs and now teaches entrepreneurship and innovation. “Without this weekend, none of these opportunities would have happened. So, if you have a slight curiosity for startups, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and the like, then I highly encourage you to sign up for Startup Weekend!”

Through awesome ideas, successes and failures, Jasmin’s favourite element of the weekend is the personal growth she sees participants take over the weekend. ”I love seeing new people giving Startup Weekend a go and dipping their toe into the Entrepreneurship ecosystem. It’s awesome to see the transformation that they go through over the weekend.”

And finally, her advice to anyone sitting on the fence, unsure if they should grab their ticket, she shares. “If you are unsure about signing up, a bit shy, new to the whole entrepreneurship thing, my advice is to give it a go! You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. I promise you won’t regret it!”
