As Perth continues to attract globally connected entrepreneurs and innovators, Tom Webster, Client Engagement Director at Everest Engineering, is embedding himself in the WA startup ecosystem with the support of Spacecubed’s growth programs, coworking spaces and community.

Everest Engineering is a digital product consultancy founded in 2018 by Craig Brown and Ranganathan Balashanmugam. Both had previously worked in product development and engineering at Oracle. When Oracle acquired construction tech unicorn Aconex, they spun out to build a consultancy focused on scalable digital teams.

Today, Everest supports companies ranging from startups and scaleups to enterprises like Kmart, Bupa and Coles. With a team of around 200 people distributed across Australia, India and Malaysia, the consultancy has also worked with digital giants including Envato, Seek and Canva.

Recently relocating from Melbourne with his family, Tom has brought Everest’s experience working with teams and clients across regions to the west coast. His focus is on building local partnerships and contributing meaningfully to the growing tech and digital product community in WA.

“I've been in business development and growth roles for services agencies and consultancies since 2013 and through Everest, I am excited to positively contribute to the local ecosystem over the coming months and years,” shared Tom.

Since arriving in Perth, Tom has been actively networking across the local startup and tech scene, with a clear focus on identifying how Everest can bring tangible value to the region. He’s been a regular at Spacecubed’s community events and meetups such as Morning Startup, Digital Transformation Perth and the E-Commerce Meetups.

Tom revealed, “our short-term goal is to secure a handful of WA-based partnerships by the end of the year and we've already initiated one of these in August by sponsoring the Morning Startup meetups for the rest of 2025.”

For Everest, expanding into WA is about more than location, it’s about building stronger connections within Australia. "We're incredibly excited about the strategic potential of this move and the doors it opens for expansion within Australia," Tom shared.

With teams across India, Malaysia and Australia, having a base in Perth also creates a natural bridge between time zones and communities.

Looking forward, Tom shared “my focus over the coming months is to grow our brand locally, and while it's early days, I'm confident this will pave the way for us to build a dedicated Perth-based team in the future.”

Tom is still in the discovery phase when it comes to adapting Everest’s services for WA, but early signs suggest opportunities in areas like technical leadership for startups, and gives a shout out to Lee Goldsworthy, “who's doing exceptional work in this space already.”

As Everest continues to establish its presence in Perth, Tom remains focused on listening, learning and building relationships that go beyond business.

“With India being so close, I'm also going to explore how we can get some of our best people over from our India-based team to Perth to provide on-the-ground capability and expertise to organisations across WA,” concluded Tom.

Spacecubed’s growth programs and newly launched Founder Membership starting from $250/month + GST, provide the support, resources and community to help innovators and entrepreneurs scale, no matter where you are on your business journey.
