Celebrating local changemakers and entrepreneurs at Innovate Western Sydney
Spacecubed is proud to have been a part of Innovate Western Sydney 2024, a premier event dedicated to shaping the future of innovation in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions hosted by Investment NSW and the Western Sydney University Launch Pad.
This all-day event was a true celebration of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the power of community, showcasing the incredible talent that Western Sydney has to offer. It was a day filled with powerful stories and cutting-edge ideas, with the aim to celebrate some of the brightest minds in the startup ecosystem.
The event kicked off with an inspiring keynote from Jahin Tanvir, Spacecubed member and CEO of the Australian School of Entrepreneurship. Jahin shared how as a child from Bangladesh growing up in Western Sydney, he faced many challenges but overcame them and built an audience on TikTok to become a leader with a mission.
Today, he is making a significant impact by empowering youth and multicultural communities. His journey reminded us that with determination, the right mindset, and a strong sense of purpose, anyone can overcome obstacles and create a positive impact on the world.
Following Jahin’s keynote presentation, experts from various fields took the stage to discuss the growing innovation landscape in the region, sharing key insights on how businesses and researchers can collaborate to drive future success. Attendees also had the choice to hear from speakers at three concurrent panel sessions in different spaces that focused on some of the key areas of innovation: Inclusive Innovation, Health, and Tech.
Ophelie Cutier, Acting CEO of Spacecubed, travelled from Perth to Western Sydney to share Spacecubed's journey and mission to empower 1 million changemakers by 2030. She highlighted how Spacecubed's commitment to supporting startups and innovators has grown to include the vibrant Western Sydney region.
Since launching in 2022, the Western Sydney Startup Hub has made a meaningful impact on more than 3,000 individuals through its space, programs, and events. It is now home to a thriving community of over 100 members representing a diverse range of industries.
Over the course of the day, other key industry players spoke, including WSU Launch Pad, Cicada Innovations, and UNSW Founders, allowing attendees to learn more about the local incubators, accelerators, and operators driving the innovation ecosystem in Western Sydney.
Throughout the event, Spacecubed member Lailei Huang showcased the newly launched Western Sydney Tech Innovators Meetup, hosted at the Western Sydney Startup Hub. Lailei highlighted the region’s thriving AI scene and how the meetup has quickly become a focal point for like-minded individuals to connect, collaborate, and innovate.
