Spacecubed is excited to partner with ECU to launch a Work Integrated Learning Hub at Riff, in the heart of Perth’s CBD. This newly established hub, set to launch in early 2023, will allow businesses of varying industries within the Spacecubed community to access current or graduating ECU students on an internship basis, supporting them in finding real-world industry experience.

Both Spacecubed and ECU are committed to supporting the future of work, and this partnership helps to assist new and budding graduates in the transition from study to work, providing learning experience for students as a part of their degree program. This program also gives students the opportunity to work on real-world industry problems and will help them to create strong relationships with industry professionals to forge future employment pathways.

By connecting graduates with the entrepreneurs, freelancers and professionals who call Spacecubed home, they’re able to gain an understanding of how businesses operate on all levels. As a benefit of this partnership, Spacecubed members are invited to express their interest in working with an ECU intern for a semester, beginning in February 2023. Inviting an intern to work for your business through the program will not only provide them with relevant learning and industry experience, but will also help you complete specific project tasks, allow you the opportunity to become a mentor, and can help to enhance your company’s social strategy and presence. What’s more, is that there is no extra cost for their involvement in your team! ECU interns are invited to work from the CBD-based hub, or directly within your team at one of Spacecubed’s locations.

When asked how the program can benefit businesses a part of the Spacecubed community, Director of Work-Integrated Learning in the School of Business and Law at ECU, Professor Denise Jackson shared her thoughts.

“The ECU WIL Hub program is a great opportunity for businesses to get involved in as it will allow you to develop your team’s capacity through mentoring and coaching students. It will also help you complete existing projects or commence new ones, and will allow you to engage with motivated students with exciting new ideas.”

“Past interns in the program were able to gain insight into both professional and workplace culture, which is particularly exciting at Spacecubed, as the culture is perceived as vibrant and fast-paced. Past interns have also stated they most enjoyed meeting and networking with industry professionals via Spacecubed community events and informal spaces such as the community kitchens,” she continued.

General Manager of Spacecubed, Chandra Sundareswaran also shared his thoughts on Spacecubed’s involvement with the ECU WIL Hub program.

“We’re proud to continue this partnership with ECU, and launch a specific space in the CBD where their students can connect with industry. By connecting ECU WIL Hub students and graduates to Spacecubed’s member network, we’re able to build strong relationships that will foster work-ready skill development and improve industry relationships for WIL participants, resulting in better career prospects.”
