2nd April Update
With a big announcement this week from the Australian Government regarding the 'job keeper' scheme, we're pleased to see opportunities for our members and the community to continue working and adapting during this time. To see more information from Federal, State (WA), and local governments, as well as startup hubs and banks, click here.
Here at Spacecubed, we've launched #AdaptDontStop, an initiative to promote people and organisations changing how they deliver value to their customers and stakeholders rather than just stopping. This involves a range of events, workshops and resources to assist you in adapting and we look forward to partnering with many organisations to spread the message. Please register your interest in supporting at the bottom of the #AdaptDontStop page.

18th March Update
Here at Spacecubed, the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone in our spaces are our number one priority and we are working closely with our team and following the advice of health authorities to ensure that appropriate measures are in place.
We will be providing a weekly update to members by both email and video (Make sure to Like and Subscribe!). This blog post will also be updated weekly with the measures we are taking. If we need to communicate more frequently due to the fluid nature of this situation we will.
So, how is Spacecubed supporting you and your business?
This situation is difficult and it is going to require all of us to work together not just around the health and safety measures but also in how we support fellow businesses and entrepreneurs. Spacecubed are currently implementing the below to ensure business can run as normal during this period.
- Create Content - With face to face events, workshops and training being restricted Spacecubed are providing our Podcast Studio and Video Studio (just being finished) free of charge to members so they can produce content for their customers and stakeholders. Please contact Eleanor (eleanor@spacecubed.com) to book this equipment for use in the space.
- Government Stimulus - The Federal Government is expected to announce new stimulus measures in the coming days, Spacecubed is organising a video with our accounting partner to explain what this means for your business. This will be released next week so please subscribe to our Youtube Channel.
- Remote Work - Spacecubed members are usually a little ahead of the curve with remote work and using technology to better enable their teams and businesses however we have compiled some tips here for remote work and how to better enable your team. We have also had members ask if they can split their team across our spaces which we are happy to facilitate.
- Innovation and Collaboration - Constraints are a driver of innovation and there will be new ways of work, businesses and ideas created through this pandemic. We are thinking about how Spacecubed can innovate at this time and if you think there are collaboration opportunities with Spacecubed and your business please let me know.
In addition to this, to assist both businesses in our space, and businesses across the wider ecosystem, we have implemented the following procedures and policies to ensure safety now, and into the future of work.
Spacecubed Staff:
- Staff have been advised that any future planned travel to at-risk countries will require them to take a further 2 weeks leave and possible health clearance before returning to work.
- Staff have been advised that should they feel unwell, particularly with flu-like symptoms, they must stay at home and seek medical advice. The return-to-work dates of these individuals will be managed on an individual basis, subject to the medical advice received.
- Staff that report immediate family members being unwell, particularly with flu-like symptoms, have been advised to stay at home and seek medical advice.
- Staff that begin to experience flu-like symptoms whilst at work have been asked to speak immediately with their manager, following which isolation measures will be put in place.
- All work experience students have been instructed to take the same measures as any Spacecubed staff member.
Precautionary Measures:
- Hand sanitiser has been placed in high traffic areas, in bathrooms and on the Host Desks across each of our coworking spaces.
- Frequently touched areas (door handles, lifts, handrails, etc.) are being regularly sanitised.
- Tables and chairs are being regularly sanitised.
- Spacecubed Community events have been postponed for the foreseeable future, including happy hour and member breakfast.
- Meetups hosted in the space are being postponed or taken online to a virtual event. Stay tuned for more information regarding your favourite meetups on this blog.
- Additional cleaning staff are to be implemented in the next week.
- We have instructed staff to reduce personal contact with Members and guests, so please do not be offended if a welcome handshake is not offered or accepted.
Advice to Members:
In consideration of the well-being of others, we respectfully ask Members to observe the following:
- If you have recently travelled overseas or have had contact with anyone who has tested positive to COVID-19, you should not visit the space and adhere to the latest isolation advice from the Australian Government Department of Health.
- If you are feeling unwell, please do not visit Spacecubed until your condition is diagnosed and/or you have recovered, particularly if you have flu-like symptoms.
- Before inviting any guests or external tenants to the space, we request that you take precautionary measures in reference to the above two points.
- It is well documented that good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against viruses.
- Finally, we are cognisant that a number of members have made advance bookings to events and meeting rooms, and although we welcome and encourage your continued support, any cancellations received out of health concerns will be respected. All we ask is that you give as much advance notice as possible, to allow fellow members the opportunity to infill those seats.
I would like to thank you in advance for your support and understanding during this time. If you have any other ideas, questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to myself or one of the Spacecubed team. We have a challenging few months ahead but we are confident working with our community we can get some great outcomes and impact.
Best Regards,
Brodie McCulloch, Founder and Managing Director of Spacecubed
