October 2024 presents an exciting month of opportunities for entrepreneurs across New South Wales as we celebrate Small Business Month, in partnership with the NSW Government.

The statewide initiative aimed at promoting and supporting small businesses, features a series of events, workshops, and resources designed to help business owners grow, connect, and thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

We asked Ben Tortora who is the founder of Corsza, a Western Sydney based media production company, how he got started.

“After failing a personality test that prevented me from getting a job at a major international bank, I took the plunge and started my own business,” Ben shared.

Now, five years later, Ben has encountered many common challenges faced by small business owners, including cash flow issues, but he emphasised that taking that risk was the best decision he has ever made.

Small businesses are the backbone of the NSW economy, creating jobs, fostering innovation and contributing significantly to local communities. “Keeping small businesses alive should be the priority right now, no matter what industry you’re in,” added Ben, highlighting the importance of supporting small enterprises during challenging times.

By providing support and fostering connections, NSW Small Business Month helps these enterprises thrive. From networking opportunities to educational seminars, the month is packed with valuable experiences tailored to entrepreneurs at every stage, and you can view the official NSW Small Business Month website for a calendar of events in your area.

This year’s key topics include branding, filling supply shortages, finding new customers, growing your business, health, and preparing for the future. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, there’s something for everyone during this vibrant month, designed to equip business owners with the tools and insights needed for success.

Spacecubed is committed to empowering 1 million changemakers and entrepreneurs, and that passion drives our support for small businesses. We achieve this through our vibrant coworking spaces, tailored programs, and engaging events designed to foster growth and innovation.

Networking events are gatherings designed to facilitate connections among professionals and entrepreneurs, and as part of NSW Small Business Month, we’re excited to host a special Networking Evening at the Western Sydney Startup Hub, powered by Spacecubed.

Taking place on Friday 25th October at 4pm, this event is the perfect way to celebrate the end of the month by mingling with Spacecubed members and other small business owners from the local community, so come along to expand your network, create collaboration opportunities and get inspired.

We're also thrilled to offer a complimentary coworking pass with your event ticket, giving you the chance to work from the Western Sydney Startup Hub on the day, prior to the event. Experience the Spacecubed community firsthand, whether you're looking for a quiet space to focus or an opportunity to connect with fellow innovators, our flexible workspace has you covered.

By participating, you’re not just investing in your own business; you’re also supporting the local community and contributing to the growth of small businesses in New South Wales.
