HealthEngine.com.au is a Perth startup founded in 2006 to connect patients and practitioners with healthcare professionals. Over the last 10 years, it has become Australia’s number 1 online health destination, listing over 70, 000 practices and attracting over 750,000 unique website visits a month.

With well over 100,000 users, patients find and book health appointments conveniently online. By leveraging technology, HealthEngine aim to improve the ways patients handle and cope with the complex health system, and ultimately, deliver satisfactory healthcare experiences for all.

Innovative, unique and engaging

Holding their first strategy session at FLUX, we put HealthEngine’s Head of People and Culture to the question sword, and here’s what she had to say:

“The space is unique, interesting, innovative and modern, and this allowed for creative and strategic thinking out of the normal office environment,” said Lori Tyrrell, Head of People and Culture at HealthEngine.

“On top of delicious food, we felt free to use the space as it suited us, which enabled us to better focus on the strategy day at hand, and innovate,” she continued.

With a catered strategy day in the Hinkler room, this was the first time HealthEngine has visited FLUX for a meeting/event. Longstanding supporters of Spacecubed, WA’s largest medical and health startup have also been active at Spacecubed recently, mentoring and judging in our recent HBF Activate health hackathon.

“As active members of the WA Startup community, and having supporting Spacecubed since it began, we have participated in many of their innovative events, and hackathons. In particular, HealthEngine recently attended the HBF Activate Hackathon in a judging capacity,” Lori Tyrrell said.

“Our People and Culture executive was on hand to listen to team pitches, provide health, technology and startup advice and participate in selecting the overall winner. We also offered for our CEO to provide ongoing mentorship to a number of teams after the hackathon,” Ms Tyrrell concluded.
