Western Australia's green economy is generating more data than ever, from energy networks and construction sites to industrial operations. Most of it sits unused. GreenSpark is a new AI innovation hackathon delivered by GreenTech Hub, Spacecubed and WA Data Science Innovation Hub, built to change that.
Registrations are now open for participants who want to build practical AI tools that turn green tech data into real decisions and help accelerate decarbonisation across WA's construction, energy and industrial sectors.
GreenSpark is open to engineers, developers, data scientists, researchers and students, founders and sustainability professionals, along with anyone working across energy, construction or industrial sectors who wants to build something real. You don't need a team to register, we'll help match you with one.
The challenges
Industry sponsors are providing the real-world problems teams will work on throughout GreenSpark. You'll be solving live, existing industry opportunities, with prototype solutions that can be iterated and adopted quickly. Specific use case themes will be revealed in the weeks ahead. Key dates
Registrations open 1 September and close 14 October, or sooner if places fill first. With numbers capped between 40 and 60 participants, we're keeping this cohort small by design. The program runs from 15 to 30 October at Riff in Perth, opening with a Launch Day on Thursday 15 October and a Customer Validation Day on Friday 16 October, followed by a Q&A Customer Checkpoint on Friday 23 October, and Pitches with a sundowner on Friday 30 October.
Prizes and support
GreenSpark will award upwards of $40,000 in cash prizes, with three finalist teams each receiving $10,000 to progress their idea. The reward goes further than the prize, though. Finalists win a pitching slot at West Tech Fest in front of WA's wider innovation community, and become part of the ongoing GreenTech cohort, with mentorship through office hours, access to the Plus Eight Accelerator bootcamp, and support to keep building their venture through 2027 and beyond.
