At Kaizen West, powered by Spacecubed, we love celebrating the innovative members shaping the future of work and technology. This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Component6, a forward-thinking consultancy founded by Dan Hookham, with a mission to make AI adoption safe, sustainable, and impactful.
After 12 years in the tech consultancy space, and 20 years working in data and AI, Dan saw first-hand the challenges organisations faced when navigating emerging technologies like AI, IoT, Blockchain, and XR. But with the launch of ChatGPT, he recognised an even bigger gap:
“Existing consultancy methods were inadequate in helping organisations comprehend the potential of these new, more accessible AI solutions,” Dan shared.
This insight led to the creation of Component6. Since mid-2023, the company has supported more than 400 organisations in understanding how to integrate AI into their daily operations.
The journey took another exciting turn in November 2024, when Dr. Yulianna Shiikha joined the team. With her background as a medical practitioner and academic researcher, Yulianna brought a new dimension to the business—leading education initiatives in the healthcare sector while Dan and the team expanded into building industry-specific AI solutions.
Today, Component6 is pioneering Agentic AI solutions alongside their education arm, helping businesses move beyond theory and into practical, transformative applications. And the best part? They’re doing it all from our brand-new space in West Perth at Kaizen West.
For Component6, having a base at Kaizen West has been a game-changer.
“We love Kaizen West. The team is amazingly friendly, we have our own space, but with the opportunity to flex up when we need to. It has great facilities, it’s affordable, and the location is perfect—just out of the city but close enough to walk or catch the free CAT bus to meetings.”
And it’s not just about space—it’s about community. The team has already started collaborating with fellow members, reinforcing Kaizen West’s mission of creating a connected hub where innovation thrives.
One recent highlight was Component6’s collaboration with 100Women, a philanthropic organisation that Yulianna is part of.
“They were running an event to leverage the attendees’ hive mind in support of two fantastic WA charities: Radiance South West and Dress for Success WA,” Dan explained. “They wanted their event to be different, engaging, and impactful. They approached us with the Solvathon concept, and we explored how AI could play a role.”
The result was a bespoke piece of software that enabled each table of attendees to record their conversations in real time, access an AI Facilitator (preloaded with information about each charity and the Solvathon process), and see all the data processed and presented live for use in their final presentations.
After the event, the 100Women team could also query the AI with follow-up questions and generate detailed reports for the attendees and charities—creating long-lasting value beyond the event itself.
Passionate about helping people make informed choices around AI, Component6 is offering free consultations to Spacecubed members, hosted at Kaizen West.
