In 2022, Spacecubed was appointed to operate the Western Sydney Startup Hub, located in the heart of North Parramatta. The heritage site was transformed into a beautiful, modern space with premium amenities whilst still honouring the rich history of the area. The hub opened its doors in November to startup founders and small business owners, and has steadily grown into a diverse and collaborative space with a strong sense of innovation and community.
The hub, home to 1,500 square metres of coworking, resident desks and private office space, also houses a wide range of event space available for use, and on the 29th November 2023, we held a celebration in our Main Hall to mark the Western Sydney Startup Hub First Birthday!
As the evening unfolded, there was a vibrant atmosphere in the room as Spacecubed members, Government officials, entrepreneurs and Western Sydney locals came together for a night filled with celebration, new connections and fun.
Spacecubed’s Chief Operating Officer, Ophelie Cutier and Carol Friel, from Investment NSW both delivered engaging speeches reflecting on the year that was, where they highlighted the various achievements and the milestones reached.
This past year, we have witnessed the power of community, collaboration and networking unfold before our eyes with many of our members exchanging ideas in our common areas and connecting with each other.
Michael Schepis, Co-Founder of Handle Branding is one of our original WSSH members who’s team operates from the space, and he described the event as a “fantastic evening.”
“It was great to see the space so full of people enjoying themselves.” Michael added.
We were also excited to welcome a range of new visitors and local entrepreneurs to the space throughout the evening, who were able to learn more about the history of the space and engage in a facilitated hub tour, before connecting with Spacecubed members over drinks and canapés.
Looking forward to the year to come, Parramatta is positioning itself as a global city with development and innovation happening in the area at a rapid pace. With the Parramatta Light Rail due to be completed soon, the Western Sydney Startup Hub will be directly connected to the Parramatta CBD and surrounding suburbs. This increased accessibility positions WSSH as a convenient place for entrepreneurs to work from, and will see more businesses and individuals choosing to base themselves here.
The future is bright for Western Sydney’s startup ecosystem, and we’re so excited to see what the next year holds as we continue to support the growth in the community!
